Slava Gerovitch is a lecturer in the history of mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the author of From Newspeak to Cyberspeak: A History of Soviet Cybernetics and Voices of the Soviet Space Program: Cosmonauts, Soldiers, and Engineers Who Took the USSR into Space.

Only complaint is that it was not long enough!

This book was a fascinating read. I stumbled upon it while I was visiting a bookstore in Cambridge, and decided to get it because at the time I was looking for any history book on spaceflight. This did not disappoint, and I loved how the author brought in other fields like cultural anthropology to enhance his analysis. The way that the book is formatted also works, as each chapter is essentially a self-contained exploration of an idea or event. My only complaint is that this was a relatively short read for my 30 dollars!
